As I was reading about the new Scrabble rule change (proper names are now acceptable), something struck me - is this great, or a sign that America is getting dumber?
Yes, it opens up a world of possibility in terms of what you can actually play, but now anyone with an almost non-existent vocabulary can win playing words like "Miley" and "Bieber," or even worse, "Dan", "John", "Sue", etc. Basically, I'm not sure the rule change is necessary.
This is a rant more than anything. I have no actual proof that this rule change was brought on by the dumbing down of America. And reading over it, I'm not even sure I made my point.
I agree.
